We need to build a collaborative platform to achieve the full promise of the Sustainable Development Goals. We want to make it easy for everyone, everywhere, to work together. Help us reach wide and far to gain the hearts and the minds of people so they understand that these are their Goals. Fifteen years may seem a long time, but it can pass in the blink of an eye. We have no time to waste.
— Ban Ki-Moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations

The Power of Community for Problem-Solving

In 2016, the United Nations endorsed Empact to drive collaboration around their 2030 Goals for Sustainable Development and Climate Change. Our white label software was built for the purpose of collaborative problem-solving within individual communities: it provides an online infrastructure to effectively connect networks of individuals to resources and opportunities, so that all players in the ecosystem can identify shared problems and start building real solutions.

Empact, For Good

Since our founding, we established two separate divisions of the company for maximum social impact. One, a for-profit entity: Empact LLC, which licenses software to a variety of for-profit companies and organizations who oftentimes have social impact high on their agenda. Two, a not-for-profit entity: Empact For Good Inc, a 501(c)(3), which donates software licenses (with minimum annual maintenance fee) to not-for-profit organizations who are directly working towards achieving the 17 SDGs. We believe in a world where our software can fuel collaboration in both the private sector and not-for-profit space.

No Community Left Behind

At Empact, we’ve made it our mission to provide any community whose work actively advances the 2030 SDGs, with access to an Empact platform. The goal is that all those committed to this global cause will be able to benefit from the use of our software, so that their work can benefit others.

Launched in 2017 as a collaboration between Empact, the United Nations Development Program, and the Government of Rwanda, the AfricaConnekt community-innovation platform provides entrepreneurs and investors in 25 countries across Africa with a dynamic ecosystem to develop sustainable businesses and build a new future for employment on the continent. Since its start in 2017, AfricaConnekt has held two innovation contests, rewarding thousands of dollars in prize money to the most promising entrepreneurs and ideas from across the platform. Deemed the “fasted-growing innovation hub in Africa,” the success of AfricaConnekt attests to the social impact that is possible when motivated communities are powered by an Empact platform.
